Our Scottish Parliamentary maritime reception held at Holyrood on the 18th November proved to be the best attended ever with strong representation from MSPs, ports and shipping as well as leading figures from the freight, environmental and training sectors.

In the wake of the UK Government’s recently published Draft Wales Bill which included proposals to transfer most ports policy functions to the Welsh Assembly Government, the Welsh Ports Group (who represent the interests of ports across Wales) have commented.

The British Ports Association and South West Regional Ports Association held a joint reception for representatives from Local Enterprise Partnerships, MPs, local authorities and decision makers to launch a new brochure on ports in the South West.

The BPA welcomes the appointment of the new Ports Minster, Robert Goodwill, in the Government’s Ministerial appointments today. Mr Goodwill, the MP for Scarborough and Whitby, was a DfT Minister under the last Government, but previously responsible for aviation and roads.
