New ‘Clean Industry Bonus’ a Positive Step for Offshore Wind Investment in UK Ports

The British Ports Association (BPA) has welcomed the opening of the Clean Industry Bonus (CIB) application window, a scheme designed to encourage investment in UK offshore wind supply chains, including ports.

This initiative, part of the Contracts for Difference (CfD) Allocation Round 7, aims to incentivise investment into UK ports and associated supply chain infrastructure, particularly those in deprived areas.

Whilst broadly positive, the BPA is interested in further improvements to the scheme to maximise its potential for job creation in UK coastal communities, building on the progress made today. The BPA association has previously highlighted the benefits of more ambitious UK Content rules to encourage investment in UK supply chains and jobs.

The Clean Industry Bonus creates clear incentives for investment in UK ports and supply chains and is welcome. It will improve the competitiveness of the UK for offshore wind investment and should help secure more of the economic and social benefits of the offshore wind transition.
