Net-Zero Maturity Assessment Tool

The Net-Zero Maturity Assessment tool is designed to support ports in their journey towards decarbonisation. Developed over the past 18 months with support from a steering group of ports and our partners at the UK Major Ports group, this robust, self-assessment tool accurately measures progress in reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency of port operations. Additionally, it provides valuable insights into the support required for the industry to meet its overarching targets.
Key Features
The tool maps out various parameters and indicators that ports need to adopt for long-term decarbonisation of their operations and the wider maritime sector. These parameters include:
- Mapping
- Engagement
- Targets
- Transition
- Improvement
- Reporting
- Management
- Achievements
Designed to be both easy to use and highly credible, the tool accounts for existing industry schemes such as EcoPorts and ISO accreditations. It complements these schemes by using similar data and information while acknowledging the diverse operational profiles of different ports. The tool focuses on actions that are agnostic to overall emissions and types of operations.
Benefits for Participating Ports
By taking part in this exercise, participating ports can:
