Welsh Government launch “Port development fund”

The Welsh Government have launched a £2 million Port Development Fund.

The Welsh Government have launched a £2 million Port Development Fund.

Speaking of the fund, Ken Skates, Cabinet Secretary for Economy & Infrastructure said.

“I am pleased to today launch a £2 million Ports Development Fund. The Welsh Government sees maritime ports in Wales as key partners in delivering the objectives set out under our Programme for Government ‘Taking Wales Forward’. This fund, which has both a revenue and capital element, has been designed to help ports achieve their potential.

The fund is now open and bids are invited for projects which:

  • Promote streamlined and sustainable intermodal freight systems
  • Develop new and maximise existing tourism opportunities, looking forward to Visit Wales’ 2018 Year of the Sea
  • Support renewable and low carbon energy installations
  • Protect and enhance the environment
