Solar panels have been installed on the new Border Control Post (BCP) at the Port of Poole to provide an environmentally friendly solution to generate all of the electricity requirement for the BCP. The solar panels consist of 72 x 450W (32.4kW) on one Solar Edge 25kW three-phase inverter & 144 x 450W (64.8kW) on one Solar Edge 50kW three-phase inverter.
Installation of the Solar PV cells will generate 100mwh per annum, which exceeds the estimated power requirement by 6% and would make the facility carbon neutral in its ongoing operational usage. The 100mwh generated by the Solar PV cells equates to 28,000 kg of CO2 emissions saved per annum.
