Shoreham Port: Sussex Net Regeneration Scheme

Shoreham Port is proud to be part of the Sussex Net Regeneration Scheme, offering free end-of-life fishing gear recycling for commercial fishers of Shoreham Port. Working in collaboration with Odyssey Innovation, Exeter City Council and their partners at Sussex Wildlife Trust, Adur & Worthing Council and Sussex Bay, the net recycling scheme seems to support local fishing communities in the recovery and recycling of marine plastics and end of life fishing gear. In supporting this initiative, Shoreham Port have create a dedicated section on their website which outlines how fishers based out of Shoreham can recycle end-of-life gear and uses infographics and videos to clearly demonstrate how to prepare the gear for recycling. Moreover, fishers can request gear collection through Shoreham’s website and anonymously report ghost fishing gear, further simplifying the process and thereby encouraging the local fishing community to reduce waste and support marine life.
