The Department for Transport’s (DfT) Transport Research and Innovation Grants (TRIG) bridge the early stage, proof-of-concept funding gap in transport innovation, where small investments can de-risk emerging solutions.
On May 11 2026 the Connected Places Catapult, the UK’s innovation agency for transport, construction and data infrastructure, announced that applications are open for the latest Transport Research and Innovation Grants (TRIG) programme, which will award up to £2,385,000 across up to 53 projects receiving up to £45k each.
