BPA members have been highlighting careers in the ports industry to young people.

BPA members have been highlighting careers in the ports industry to young people as part of Seafarers Awareness Week 2017.

Hosted an Employment Forum yesterday, bringing together key contacts from local schools and colleges that work with the students providing careers advice, work experience placements and enterprise opportunities. They showcased a vast range of interesting roles throughout the industry, both nationally and internationally.

Harwich Haven Authority will also be providing many work experience placements within their Operations and IT departments.

The Port of Milford Haven – www.mhpa.co.uk

The Port of Milford Haven are holding a Robotics programme for junior schools in their vicinity. The programme offers an accredited course in robotics, which is an excellent starting point into the world of control systems/robotics.

Over the past week students from five different schools have had the opportunity to enjoy work experience at Belfast Harbour and gain first-hand experience of the diversity of careers available. Further work experience is organised for the summer and autumn, affording more students the opportunity to gain insight into the varied and exciting careers available in the Port industry.
