Smart Heating & Lighting Systems at Falmouth Harbour

Falmouth Harbour Commissioners (FHC) has replaced night storage heaters and fluorescent strip lights with thermostated electric heaters and LED lights.

In 2019 Falmouth Harbour Commissioners (FHC) replaced night storage heaters and fluorescent strip lights with thermostated electric heaters and LED lights. In some less used areas i.e. corridors FHC also installed motion sensors so lights would only come on as required.

Falmouth Harbour monitor energy usage in the office and have identified a 20% saving in electricity use and associated carbon emissions in the first 11 months compared with the same period the previous year.

This has resulted in an overall saving of 3.2 tonnes of Carbon Dioxide equivalent and almost £1,200.
