In January 2020, new 22kW dual output Electric Charger units will be installed at Albert Building in Lerwick’s Town Centre. Lerwick Port Authority secured funding from the Energy Saving Trust to install charging points throughout its estate for staff and public use.

Additional points will be installed at Victoria Pier and also the new Lerwick fishmarket under construction at Mair’s Quay. The convenience of having an electric vehicle charging station on site will provide a valuable and accessible facility to the growing private ownership of electric vehicles by staff, visitors and customers. Installation of the charging point, compliments the Port’s wider environmental targets in monitoring and reducing the use of fossil fuels.
