Decarbonising Ports & Shipping

  • Date:
    9 January 2020

The British Ports Association is working with the UK Chamber of Shipping to organise a one-day conference on decarbonisation.

You can now download the programme here.

The UK Government announced that the UK will be ‘net zero’ by 2050. In Scotland the target is 2045 and opposition parties are promising to move that date forward. The IMO also has targeted a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This event aims to discuss what will be needed to meet those targets in terms of short and long term measures and who will meet the costs.

It will be on Thursday 9 January 2020. It starts at 9am and will wrap up by approximately 5.30pm, followed by a drinks and networking reception.

The day will cover four broad themes: the law; port and ship operations and efficiency; financing innovation and decarbonisation; and the infrastructure and technology that will be required to meet national and international targets.

Tickets are free for members and there are a very limited number remaining. To book your place please click here.
