The 26th BPA Conference and Exhibition will be taking place in Newcastle Gateshead, a vibrant destination with a famously warm welcome. With Newcastle upon Tyne named the number one place in the world to visit in 2018 by Rough Guide, this year’s partner programme will allow guests to explore the city and experience a taste of Northumberland with a visit to the famous Alnwick Castle and Garden.
Day in Newcastle upon Tyne – Wednesday 10 October
For partners, Wednesday will begin with a walking tour of Newcastle upon Tyne. Beginning in the city centre, guests will be led on the tour by an accredited Blue Badge Guide, taking in the sights and learning about the city’s intriguing history. Following the tour, lunch will be provided at SIX, the rooftop restaurant at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. Famed for its delicious local menu it also affords guests an unparalleled panoramic view of the cityscape. On Wednesday afternoon, guests are free to explore the city at their leisure before joining delegates for the social evening.
Alnwick Castle and Garden – Thursday 11 October
On Thursday, partners are invited to spend the day at Alnwick Castle and Garden. A private coach will transport guests to the now internationally famous Castle and Garden. Renowned for its starring role as Hogwarts in the Harry Potter film series, and more recently for its appearance in Downton Abbey, Alnwick Castle is one of the most illustrious castles and stately homes in North East England. The vision of the 12th Duchess of Northumberland, The Alnwick Garden hosts a range of spectacular features from its Bamboo Labyrinth and Poison Garden to the iconic water fountains. Lunch will take place at The Treehouse restaurant at The Alnwick Garden. A unique dining experience in one of the world’s largest treehouses, the restaurant prides itself on its regional menu and locally sourced ingredients.
