Buckie Harbour was recently named as the O&M base for the Moray West offshore wind farm. Following planning approval by Moray Council, the new 1991m2 facility will be constructed on an existing brownfield site adjacent to a Buckie Harbour Pier. Once in operations, it will act as a base for service technicians to prepare equipment for use on the wind farm and kit up prior to boarding the Crew Transfer Vessels that will be berthed alongside new pontoons in the harbour. Staff will also be based in the facility to manage the warehouse, health and safety and equipment monitoring of the wind farm. Overall, by repurposing the brownfield site, this new project will create a total of 60 new jobs and bring economic benefit to the Buckie community for the next 20 years.
