On the 9th May the BPA held a briefing seminar for Local Authority Ports Duty Holders in Exeter.
The BPA yesterday held a Local Authority Ports Duty Holders Seminar in Exeter
The event was for local authorities to be briefed on port authorities with a number of speakers covering topics that included:
- Legislation and policy background – Tom Oscroft, Department for transport
- Port Marine safety code duties and responsibilities – Forkanul Quader, Maritime & Coastguard Agency
- Legal issues local authority ports face – Lara Moore, Ashfords
The event was aimed at South West Local authority “Duty Holders” and senior Council members/officers who hold responsibilities for ports. Helping to provide a briefing on the duties and legal responsibilities that certain local authorities have for statutory harbour assets.
The event was well attended by a selection of local authorities that own ports around the South West region.
