BPA discusses port opportunities with Treasury Minister

The BPA today met with Treasury Minister to discuss ports and the economy

The BPA met with the Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury, Robert Jenrick MP, today to discuss opportunities for ports and their economic potential. The Minister showed a keen interest in ports. The Government, he said, is keen to have a conversation about how ports could become centres of industry.

BPA Chief Executive Richard Ballantyne and Policy Manager Mark Simmonds spoke of the potential to support more sustainable port development through changes to the planning system. The Minister said that the door was open for proposals that demonstrated they could add real value to the UK economy and the BPA will be picking this up with Ministers and officials.
