The British Ports Association are very pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Simmonds as the Association’s new ‘Policy Manager’.
Before joining the BPA Mark spent five years working for an MP in the House of Commons as a senior researcher and speechwriter.
Prior to that he worked in Government at the Department for Transport and separately in a central role overseeing the Government’s Regional Development Agency strategy. He also had a short stint as Business and Systems Analyst in a division of the Bank of New York Mellon in the USA.
The appointment comes ahead of long standing BPA Director David Whitehead’s retirement at the end of this month and BPA’s new Director Richard Ballantyne said:-
“Mark brings excellent government and policy experience to the BPA and he will undertake a key role for the Association overseeing much of our environmental and safety policy work all around the UK.
With the discussions about Brexit and the changes in government this an important time for ports sector and we are delighted to welcome Mark into the team.”
