The National Wealth Fund is a policy bank, bringing together the strengths of both the public and private sectors to unlock the UK’s future. The NWF has £27.8 billion of core capitalisation to deploy in pursuit of a triple bottom line: supporting government’s growth and clean energy missions, crowding in significant private capital over time and generating a return for the taxpayer.

The NWF has selected 25 sectors and their value chains which are important to the UK’s long-term growth and clean energy ambitions, and where we will actively pursue opportunities for private investments and support for regionally significant projects.

Ports have been identified as one of the ten sectors where the NWF expects to have the deepest role. These sectors are where the NWF sees the most substantive and catalytic opportunities to support sectors to develop at pace and scale, working alongside partners in the public sector. Alongside debt and guarantee financing, the NWF priority sectors will primarily be where opportunities are explored for NWF equity investments, to maximise market impact, especially in less mature sectors.
