The Scottish Government and Welsh Government currently offer Freight Facilities Grants (FFGs), which help offset the capital cost of providing rail and water freight handling facilities, including for coastal and short sea shipping.
The FFG scheme in England closed in 2011, and the GB-wide scheme expired in 2023. However, under the Subsidy Control Act 2022, Devolved Governments can enact localised FFG.
