The Port of Tyne has made the strategic decision to replace all of its indoor and outdoor lighting across its 620 acre estate with low energy LED lights.
As part of its commitment to minimise its environmental impact the project will also incorporate end-to-end intelligent lighting systems, consisting of wireless nodes connecting individual lights, a dedicated wireless network, and a central management application. The system also improves quality of service through automatic fault reporting.
Work to reduce CO2 emissions and to reduce energy consumption continues to be one of the port’s priorities. With significant investments to enhance air quality in and around the port, including electrification of equipment, introducing electric vehicles, free to use charging points and low energy lighting, all of which has so far reduced energy consumption by around 20%.
