From its international sites, shipbuilding and marine engineering business, Harland & Wolff, designs, builds, refits, repairs and services vessels and structures for the global energy and renewables, defence, commercial, cruise and ferry industries.

2024 will see international shipbuilding and marine heavy engineering business, Harland & Wolff, continue to develop its ambitious growth and diversification plans.

The company entered the year with over 1,000 employees based at its four operational site in Appledore (North Devon), Arnish (East Scotland), Belfast (Northern Ireland) and Methil (West Scotland)  and three commercial offices in Aberdeen, London and Southampton.

These strategically focussed locations ensure Harland & Wolff is ideally positioned to support its global customer base who operate in the energy and renewables, defence, commercial marine, cruise and ferry industries.  

Harland & Wolff’s rich heritage, highly skilled workforce and unique assets have enabled the business to capitalise on opportunities across shipbuilding, repair, refit and conversion as well the construction of subsea structures for the oil and gas sector and fixed offshore wind turbine components.  

In 2024 the company will be delivering a raft of marine engineering projects including multiple commercial waste barges, a floating drydock, an FPSO mid-life upgrade and the complete refit of a naval minesweeper for a foreign navy.

Early in 2024, Harland & Wolff and its project partners Navantia UK and BMT, will celebrate the first anniversary of the announcement to build three new Fleet Solid Support vessels for the Royal Navy.  Harland & Wolff is now preparing its sites in Appledore and Belfast to cut steel in 2025.
