ABP Southampton welcomes growing numbers of ‘green’ vessels

In July 2019, the Port of Southampton welcomed the new high efficiency Ro-Ro vessel from Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s HERO class, MV Traviata.

In July 2019, the Port of Southampton welcomed the new high efficiency Ro-Ro vessel from Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s HERO class, MV Traviata.

The HERO class (which stands for High Efficiency RoRo) has set a new benchmark in energy efficient world-wide automotive shipping. Vessels in this new class have been designed to improve the environmental footprint of the automotive shipping line’s fleet.

They feature an efficient exhaust gas cleaning system removing 70% of particulate matter from the air and reducing sulphur content to less than 0.1% of exhaust emissions.
