UKMPG

United Kingdom Major Ports Group

The UK’s other main ports trade association is the United Kingdom Major Ports Group (UKMPG) which represents the interests of nine larger ports groups. Between them the BPA and UKMPG work closely to ensure that the industry is fully represented at all levels of Government.

The associations run a number of joint industry working groups for our members on marine, environmental and harbour engineering issues. We also work together on a number of other topics and regularly make joint submissions and responses. UKMPG share offices with the BPA on the 4th Floor of Carthusian Court.

Ports Skills and Safety

Port Skills and Safety (PSS) encourages and promotes high standards of health and safety and a highly skilled workforce in the ports sector. It is recognised by a range of Government departments and agencies, and is open to all port related organisations including harbour authorities, conservancies, port and terminal operators, as well as stevedoring and labour supply companies.

PSS

The organisation is fully intergrated into both trade associations and PSS’s staff are employed by the BPA. Also located on the 4th Floor of Carthusian Court all three organisations are closely linked.

Maritime UK

The shipping, ports and maritime business services sectors in the UK have formalised an agreement to work together and speak with one voice on key strategic and practical issues of joint concern.

The grouping, known as “Maritime UK” meets at a high level on a quarterly basis to provide a forum for discussion and action on relevant issues. The participating organisations include the Baltic Exchange, the British Ports Association, the Chamber of Shipping, the Federation Council of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Maritime London and the UK Major Ports Group. The BPA Chairman Jim Stewart is currently Vice Chairman of Maritime UK.
