Government Contacts
The BPA is well linked with various Government Departments and the European Commission in Brussels. We are regularly consulted on legislation and policy and we involve our members in these discussions. We are a membershipdriven organisation
Structure
Our structure is simple; we have an elected Council who decide on the strategy and funding. This is supported by a number of Working Groups specialising in, for example, the environment, marine, and European issues.
Events
We hold a high profile AGM and lunch in London in the Spring of each year. We also hold a popular Autumn annual conference which is an unrivalled opportunity to rub shoulders with other members of the industry. They are the only occasions when representatives from ports across the UK can come together.
Activity
The ports sector is changing rapidly. New legislation creates new demands on the industry. New safety, planning, regulatory, environmental and other legislative requirements are coming thick and fast.
